What you pay depends on the support someone needs and the room they are in, not on which label the care carries. Once we have met and understood what is required, we will put a clear figure in writing so you can take it away and think about it.
If the council is funding part or all of it, say so early and we will tell you straight away whether it works.

Where we stand with the CQC
Our last inspection was on 6 July 2022 and the report was published on 20 August 2022. The overall rating is Requires Improvement. Effective, Caring and Responsive were each rated Good. Safe and Well-led were rated Requires Improvement.
Ownership of the home changed in July 2022, after the CQC inspection, and a lot of work has gone into all areas of the home, including the two rated Requires Improvement. What has changed is set out below, with dates. The four areas the CQC raised, what happens in the home now and how often, are set out in full on our CQC page.
There is also a more recent independent view. In February 2026 Essex County Council assessed the home under PAMMS, the framework it uses to check quality at the homes it places people in, and rated it Good overall, and Good on each of the five domains and sixteen standards it covers. Different body, different framework, so it does not change the CQC rating, but it is a picture of the home as it is now rather than as it was in 2022.
The rating stands until the CQC inspects again, and when they do we will publish what they find.

Boars Tye House is at 20 Boars Tye Road, Silver End, Witham, Essex, CM8 3QA. Silver End is a village between Witham and Braintree. We are 2.6 miles from Witham and about ten minutes from Braintree.
The postal address says Witham, but the home is in Silver End itself, so it is worth setting a satnav to CM8 3QA instead of searching for the town. There is parking on site.
